Tony Manera, a native of Italy and a Canadian citizen, holds a Master of Science degree in
Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and is a Registered
Professional Engineer in Ontario. Now retired, he has worked as an engineer in the US
aerospace industry, as a university and technical institute professor of electronics and
mathematics, and as a senior executive in post secondary education and broadcasting. He is
an author of books published in the US, Japan and Canada, and numerous opinion articles in
leading Canadian publications. A former President and CEO of the Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation, Vancouver Community College and Niagara College, he has also done extensive
consulting work in Canada, Asia and Europe in broadcasting, education, strategic planning,
management and governance for various non-profit and for profit organizations, including
the Canadian federal government. He has served on numerous boards of directors in Canada
and the US in the education, broadcasting and health sectors. He is currently a member of
the board of governors of the Ottawa Public Library and Opera Lyra Ottawa.
Tony Manera, né en Italie et citoyen canadien, est titulaire d’une maîtrise en génie électrique.
Aujourd’hui à la retraite, il a travaillé comme ingénieur dans l’industrie aérospatiale américaine,
en tant que professeur d’université et d’institut technique en électronique et en
mathématiques, et cadre dirigeant dans les domaines de l’éducation postsecondaire et de la
diffusion. Il est l’auteur d’ouvrages publiés aux États-Unis, au Japon et au Canada, et de
nombreux articles d’opinion dans des publications canadiennes de renom. Ancien président-
directeur général de Radio-Canada, du Vancouver Community College et du Niagara College, il
a souvent été consultant au Canada, en Asie et en Europe en matière de diffusion, d’
éducation et de gestion des ressources humaines pour le gouvernement canadien, ainsi que
pour divers organismes avec et sans but lucratif. Il a siégé à de nombreux conseils d’
administration au Canada et aux États-Unis, dans les secteurs de l’éducation, de la diffusion
et de la santé. Il est actuellement membre du conseil d’administration de la Bibliothèque
publique d’Ottawa et d’Opera Lyra Ottawa.
